Rhode Island might be small, but it's filled with amazing parks and nature reserves. There are so many gorgeous hiking trails scattered around that are perfect to explore in all seasons! These 7 are particularly wonderful and accessible in the winter.
1. Lincoln Woods State Park, Lincoln
Lincoln Woods State Park abounds with hiking trails that vary in length and difficulty. This place is not only picturesque, but perfect for short hikes on well maintained trails. You can visit the park at 2 Manchester Print Works Road.
2. Carolina Management Area, Wyoming
Found along Switch Road in Richmond is Carolina Management Area. This nature spot consists of 2,359 acres of forestland with several hiking trails to choose from. Some are perfect for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and others are still hike-able with light snow coverage.
3. Parker Woodland, Coventry
This gorgeous place is found at 1670 Maple Valley Road in Coventry. Hiking trails are scattered across this 860 acre property. Explore amazing old forest land, rock cairns, and dazzling brooks at Parker Woodlands.
4. Colt State Park, Bristol
Formerly owned by industrialist Samuel P. Colt, this park consists of 864 acres of beautiful land with various trails to choose from. The lovely views of the water along many of the hikes are such a uniquely Rhode Island experience. Find Colt State Park along Route 114 in Bristol.
5. Goddard Park, Warwick
Located at 1095 Ives Road Goddard Memorial Park in Warwick offers amazing seaside hiking trails with beautiful views of the bay. With acres of forest, fields, and beachfront, this is a perfect space to pack a lunch and spend your day exploring.
6. Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, Middletown
Wildlife refuge is situated along the ocean and is one of the most breathtaking spots in the state! Enjoy over 2 miles of hiking at its location at 769 Sachuest Point Road.
7. Pardon Gray Preserve, Tiverton
This nature preserve offers several miles of easy walking paths through a historic cemetery and beautiful fields in Tiverton. It is also connected to two additional trails, giving you the option to extend your hiking adventures! Find it off Route 77 where it connects with Route 179.
