Rhode Island is filled with wonderful parks and nature sites! While we've already discussed many of them, sometimes it's easy to forget about the gorgeous parks found in the middle of the cities. While these parks might not be as massive as places like Burlingame, they are simply crucial parts of the city that help provide all of us metropolitan types with much needed fresh air and tree gazing time. Here are 8 of the most popular urban parks that you should definitely find time to visit soon!

1. India Point Park, Providence

India Point Park might be one of the most beautiful places in Providence. With a stunning view of the city skyline and the Providence River, the sites are perfect to behold. Find it right off Wickenden Street on Gano Street.

2. Slater Park, Pawtucket

Slater Park is a sprawling multifaceted park found on Route 1A in Pawtucket. Not only is it the oldest park in the city, it's also still one of the most gorgeous. The park features everything from hiking and walking trails, an adventure-land playground, and more! The Pawtucket Animal Shelter can even be found in the confines of the park.

3. Neutaconkanut Park, Providence

Located in the capital city of Providence, this urban park creates a much needed escape into nature. Meadows, fields and forest and an amazing view of the city skyline make this an unforgettable place to visit. Just stroll up the hill to find acres of forested hiking trails you never knew existed. Find it at Legion Memorial Drive off Plainfield Street.

4. Warwick City Park

This beautiful city park offers hiking trails, a paved bike path, a boardwalk and even a dog park. You've got to check this place out! Find it at the end of Steven O' Connor Boulevard.

5. Roger Williams Park and Zoo, Providence

Found at 1000 Elmwood Avenue along the border of Providence and Cranston is one of Rhode Island's premier urban parks. Roger Willams Park and Zoo features everything from picnic areas, fields, concert spaces, a botanical garden, and of course dozens of animal exhibits. This is just one of those places that you need to visit to be a true Rhode Islander.

6. Goddard Memorial Park, Warwick

This popular metropolitan park is one of the best in the state for diverse wildlife and landscape. There are dozens of varieties of deciduous and evergreen trees, trails along the beach and ponds, hundreds of picnic tables, equestrian rides, and a golf course! There are even spaces to rent for private parties and events. You can find the park at 1095 Ives Road in East Greenwich.

7. Waterplace Park, Providence

Found along the Woonasquatucket River in Providence, Waterplace Park is a perfect place to get a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Though it might not have forested hiking trails like some of our other urban parks, its prime location in the middle of downcity, Providence makes it a wonderful place to explore the next time you're in the state's capital.

8. World War II Veterans Memorial State Park, Woonsocket

This 14 acre park occupies an area of the city of Woonsocket known as the "social flatlands." Textile mills once operated in this part of the city and the park is now known for its annual Autumnfest celebration on Columbus Day Weekend. Find this park on Social Street in Woonsocket.
