Spanning 241 acres, this Rhode Island nature preserve, perhaps a natural wonder in its own right, is known for a few natural features - a forest, a swamp, and streams.
Beaver River Preserve is open all year long and attracts hikers, birdwatchers, and nature lovers.
Scattered among the nature preserve in Rhode Island are large glacial boulders and the best way to see them is on the Beaver River Preserve Loop Trail.
The nearly two-mile trail meanders through some of the most scenic areas of the nature preserve. However, it scores a moderate rating, so be prepared for somewhat of a challenge.
Follow the yellow blazes to stay on this trail that does not allow dogs and is generally pretty quiet. If you're seeking solitude, chances are pretty good you'll find it here.
