You may have always been told that summer is the best time to enjoy Narragansett Bay. But while summers here are undeniably amazing, you'll be happy to know there's plenty to see here in every season. In fact, right now is the perfect time to get a glimpse of all the migratory harbor seals hanging out in the bay. Save the Bay is currently offering Seal and Lighthouse tours, and they're fantastic.
Narragansett Bay forms New England's largest estuary.
This 28-mile inlet of the North Atlantic Ocean is an expansive natural harbor.
Typically, you can only spot harbor seals here during the winter and early spring.
They love to relax in these chilly waters.
Save The Bay has been offering seal watching tours and nature cruises for the last 15 years.
And now, they have Seal and Lighthouse tours, which are fun two-hour adventures.
The Seal & Lighthouse Tours begin with your boat motoring through historic Newport Harbor.
There, you'll have sweeping views of seals resting on Citing Rock off of Rose Island and the Newport Bridge.
The cruise is worth it for an up-close-and-personal look at these adorable creatures alone -- but the tour also includes a stop at Rose Island Lighthouse.
There, you'll have a chance to get out of the boat for awhile and enjoy a lighthouse tour.
The cost of this seasonal experience is $47 for adults and $37 for children and Save the Bay members (children under three are free).
You can also pay $22 for a one-hour tour ($17 for children and members) and just spend your time checking out the seals.
This video gives you a more in-depth look at what a tour is like. Ready to come spend time with the seals?
