Exploring Rhode Island usually means one thing: We discover something new every time, whether a picturesque path we didn't know existed or a beautiful field of wildflowers that leaves us in awe. If you've never been to this beautiful forest, a true hidden gem in Rhode Island, you'll likely find that a single visit just isn't enough. After all, it offers so much to see.
With 678 acres spread across West Greenwich, Wickaboxet Management Area is a nature lover's dream come true with its picturesque hikes, sensational views, and pretty ponds.
If you want to explore all that this lush forested area has to offer, slip on a pair of comfy hiking shoes, and hit one of the trails.
Logger's Trail, the easiest at 1.3 miles, provides a beautiful overview of all of the forest's natural beauty - from colorful wildflowers in the warmer months to stellar views all year round.
If you have more time and are up for a bit of a challenge, set off on the forest's longest trail. Wickaboxet Loop via Flintlock Trail clocks in at 6.3 miles.
The trail features a little bit of everything, from jaw-dropping views to the chance to see local wildlife like deer.
You'll even pass a historic cemetery that dates back to the 1800s.
Before you visit Wickaboxet Management Area, keep a few things in mind. The trails can get overgrown, and you'll want to keep an eye out for ticks during the warmer months.
