If you miss being out and about in Rhode Island, you're certainly not alone. And while we're all hoping to return to enjoying our beautiful state to the fullest as soon as possible, thanks to technology, we can explore it virtually once in awhile. YouTube user ManxCat73 compiled some incredible drone footage of Providence during its golden hour, which occurs just before sunset. The video is pretty magical.
Providence is Rhode Island's largest and most populated city, with about 180,000 people calling it home.
But from this angle, it looks peaceful and uncrowded.
The drone cascades over the city skyline, getting some fantastic footage of the area.
Like Rome, Providence was built on seven hills. But since Weybosset Hill was leveled in the early 1880s, only six remain.
You'll also see practically every angle of the Rhode Island State House, our stunning capitol building.
The neoclassical building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Keep watching the video to see some of Providence's most famous landmarks, like the Providence Biltmore.
The footage also happens to be shot during the time The Providence Rink is up, so you'll see lots of happy ice skaters at The BankNewport City Center.
Watching this beautiful three-minute clip is enough to make you fall in love with Rhode Island all over again.
You'll probably be ready to make some future plans that involve this city as well.
Providence is an amazing city. Not only was it founded on the principles of religious freedom, it stood at the forefront of the industrial revolution for years. And it's pretty spectacular that this footage captured it all during the golden hour. See ManxCat73's full video on YouTube here:
And if you need another virtual tour to tide you over until our normal lives resume, this one is also pretty great.
