The beauty of Rhode Island's lakes is one of our best-kept secrets. After all, the hype of our stunning beaches overshadows much of the rest of our state's natural attractions. But when you're looking for a day away from the shore, a hike to this crystal blue lake is just the change of scenery you need. With a captivating trail and plenty of incredible views, this hike in an exhilarating adventure that belongs on every Rhode Islander's bucket list.
Grab the golden ticket to stunning scenery on this intoxicating hike around Browning Mill Pond. Located in the 14,000-acre Arcadia Management Area, this is one trail you won't want to miss.
The 1.5-mile trail loops around the magnificent blue pond with plenty of scenery along the way. Most nimble footed hikers (including kids) should be able to handle the trail with ease.
There's no major elevation change, so this hike won't leave you huffing and puffing but you will want to watch the uneven terrain beneath your feet.
Along your hike, discover beautiful old stone walls. You'll also encounter rectangular ponds that were once part of a former fish hatchery.
After a rain, the ground can get a little squishy. Luckily you'll find plenty of boardwalks to help keep your feet dry when you're crossing the low-lying areas.
You'll also encounter quaint little footbridges crossing small brooks throughout your journey. You'll feel like you're traveling the pages of a fairy tale.
The hike takes you around the perimeter of the pond with quite a few places to stop and enjoy the views. Crystal blue waters cut into the landscape creating quite a gorgeous and rewarding sight.
While the trail around Browning Mill Pond is wonderful any time of year, you'll want to put this hike at the top of your autumn bucket list too. A return trip in the fall guarantees a landscape full of vibrant colors reflected in the water's surface.
