If you want a fun day trip that will excite the whole family, head down to the West Coast Game Park Safari in Bandon. Established in 1968, this park started as a roadside attraction with a handful of deer and has grown to over 450 animals from 75 species. Giving you an opportunity for an up-close encounter with big game, this is one park you should add to your bucket list.
Located on Highway 101, the game park is easy to reach when you travel to the coast.
At the park you are able to photograph animals up close, much closer than at a traditional zoo.
In some cases, you are even allowed to hold baby animals being raised at the park.
There are many interactive presentations throughout the day which enable you to learn more about the animals and their habitats.
Foxes, leopards, tigers, lions, caracals, camels, bison and chimpanzees are just a few of the animals to see.
Every day at the park, there are several ambassador animals that you are able to interact with up close, meaning you can scratch their bellies, take pictures with them and just spend a little time enjoying them.
Along with the big game, there are also many free-roaming animals such as deer, goats, sheep and peacocks that travel around the park as you do.
There is really not much like seeing big cats up close in all their fierceness.
The West Coast Game Park Safari is open weekends only in January and February and then daily throughout the rest of the year.
When you begin thinking about your vacation plans next summer, keep this interesting animal park on your radar. You need to spend at least a couple hours here to really see everything, and it is well worth the trip.
This spot is truly unique, and a must-visit at least once. Have you been? Share your experience below.
