In Fairview, there is an incredible underground spring-fed lake that you need to put on your summer bucket list. If you have never been to Blue Lake Regional Park, make sure to change that this summer. This sprawling park off of Marine Drive has loads of things to keep you busy beyond just swimming in the lovely lake, and is sure to be a highlight of your summer.
The park's namesake lake is the big draw. Fed by underground springs, it is a great spot for swimming, boating and fishing.
Throughout the park, numerous trails make it easily accessible and fun to explore. Many of the trails are wheelchair accessible, allowing visitors of all mobilities access.
There is a large fishing pier, which is great for teaching children to fish or catching a few on your own. A large splash pad and natural discovery garden are also great for kids. On Fridays and Sundays throughout the summer, guided nature activities are held in the garden for children.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day when temperatures are over 70 degrees, paddleboats and canoes are available for rent, allowing you to explore the lake on your own.
An 18-hole gold-level disc golf course is a big draw for novice and experienced players alike.
There are many large fields and gathering spots to allow for gatherings and picnics. Play a game of volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, or horseshoes at the many fields scattered throughout the park.
Or you can simply take in the beauty that surrounds by spending a day on the beach.
The park is open from 8 am until the legal sunset, allowing you some beautiful views to end a wonderful day at the park.
Blue Lake is located at 21224 NE Blue Lake Road. Parking is $5 per car, and children under 5 are not allowed in the lake.
