Taco Tuesday has become a weekly recurring holiday for many Philadelphians, but going to the same spot over and over again can get old. We're all guilty of just walking down to the closest taco truck or ordering takeout from the first place that pops up on Grubhub; however, there are so many delicious taquerias throughout the city that will treat your taste buds and expand your taco experience. To showcase some of the best, we've created this taco trail through Philadelphia featuring nine of the best taco restaurants, from the wildly popular ones to the hidden gems. Take a day to try them all and change up your weekly taco routine.
You'll travel through many Philly neighborhoods in search of the top taco - are you ready?
Here's an interactive map of our taco trail through Philadelphia!
Your first stop is Honest Tom's Taco Shop.
Find the best fish tacos and some incredibly fresh food right here at Honest Tom's Taco Shop, which has quickly gained a reputation for some of the most flavorful tacos in Philadelphia.Address: 261 S 44th St., Philadelphia, PA 19104.
Next, track down Dos Hermanos Taco Truck
Dos Hermanos has been around for a few years and they've built a cult-like following. Follow the mouthwatering aroma of the truck to their location on Drexel's campus, and try one of their marinated skirt steak tacos. Address: 3350 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19104
Head south to Wolf Street to find Los Gallos, the next taco stop on your trip.
This authentic taqueria is one of the best places in Philadelphia for delicious tacos al pastor and, of course, some horchata.Address: 951 Wolf St., Philadelphia, PA 19148
Taqueria la Veracruzana is the fourth stop on our taco trail through Philadelphia.
This BYOB taco spot in Bella Vista might make the best salsa verde in the city. Their tacos are all delicious, and I can never decide between chicken, chorizo, or al pastor... luckily, you can mix and match your order and try all three.Address: 908 Washington Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19147
Pile into the hip and funky Mission Taqueria in Rittenhouse next.
Their fried mahi-mahi tacos are probably the most popular dish, and for good reason! Be sure you save room for these delicious fish tacos, even if you try their other tempting variations, too.Address: 1516 Sansom St., Philadelphia, PA 19102
Keep your eyes peeled for El Purepecha - it's easy to walk right by.
Whether you love beef tacos, shrimp tacos, or chicken tacos, you're in luck. This authentic Mexican restaurant off of Spring Garden will delight your tastebuds, no matter what you order.
Address: 469 N 10th St., Philadelphia, PA 19123
I hope you've saved room for a few more tacos, because Kensington's Loco Pez is a spot you won't want to miss.
It's hard to find soy chorizo tacos in Philadelphia, but Loco Pez makes them SO well. Of course, their regular chorizo tacos are worth talking about, too.Address: 2401 E Norris St., Philadelphia, PA 19125
Our taco trail through Philadelphia is almost complete... the penultimate stop is up north, at Taco Riendo.
CACTUS TACO TIME. Taco Riendo makes the best cactus tacos I've ever tried... and probably the only cactus tacos I've ever tried. They're also BYOB, so mix up a pitcher of margaritas and head down to this authentic Olde Kensington taco shop.Address: 1301 N 5th St., Philadelphia, PA 19122
Just when you think you can't find any more tacos... La Calaca Feliz will change your mind.
Baja fish tacos, cauliflower tacos, fried chicken tacos, mushroom tacos, pulled pork tacos, brisket tacos... the menu at La Calaca Feliz seems to go on forever. You'll want to try a few here, so hopefully you've saved room for just one more bite.Address: 2321 Fairmount Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19130
Food trails might be my favorite weekend activity in Philadelphia - and with this unseasonably warm weather we're having, you still have plenty of time to squeeze in one last trip throughout Philadelphia Ice Cream Trail, too. After all, something has to cool down your mouth after a day full of salsa and hot sauce!
