Finding calm in the middle of a noisy world can be tough. We might be able to escape for a few minutes, but sometimes that's just not enough to really relax and recharge. Nestled in the lush forest, this Pennsylvania waterfall is the perfect place to go when you're searching for calm. It sits along a picturesque trail and is absolutely beautiful in each season.
With more than a half-million acres, Allegheny National Forest offers an abundance of opportunities to find calm among the storm of life.
Sat along a scenic two-mile trail of the same name, Pigeon Run Falls tumbles down just about 10 feet over a series of ledges.
Whether the trail is smattered with fallen leaves in the autumn or sprinkled with snow in the winter, it boasts a ton of natural beauty.
However, you'll have to find the trailhead, which is extremely remote, first. To do that, plug these coordinates into your GPS or smartphone: N 41° 27.553 W 078° 58.152.
The coordinates will lead you to the parking lot near the trailhead. Roads leading to the trail are pretty rugged, so be prepared for that.
As you stroll along the easy picturesque path, you'll pass flowing streams and a variety of wildlife. Keep an eye out for salamanders shimmying along the ground and...
Birds in the trees. Pigeon Run Falls Trail is popular with those who enjoy bird watching.
You'll probably want to wear waterproof shoes or shoes you don't mind getting wet. The trail can get quite muddy after a rainfall, and you will cross a stream at the start of the trek.
Listen carefully for the sound of the tumbling of the waterfall, which is absolutely breathtaking when framed by fall foliage, frozen during the winter, and flanked by lush green in the warmer months.
Once you arrive at the majestic Pigeon Run Falls, take some time to relax, enjoy the sound of the water, and soak up the quiet.
Plan your visit to Pigeon Run Falls Trail with a visit to the Allegheny National Forest website.
