Get ready! The very best part of fall is right around the corner. What is your favorite way to admire the fall foliage? A stroll around your neighborhood? Hit the road for a leisurely drive? Or, do you prefer a hearty hike, where you can breathe in the crisp fall air? Drink in the spectacular fall foliage in Pennsylvania — and snap photos in front of a waterfall — along this picture-perfect trail.
Stretched across 585 cozy acres, Leonard Harrison State Park promises spectacular views of Pine Creek Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania.
Take a few moments to admire the gorge, drenched in the colors of fall, before lacing up your hiking boots and heading to the Turkey Path Trail.
But, before you begin the one-mile trek to the canyon floor, make sure you have everything you need for the hike that's rated difficult, including sturdy boots and plenty of water.
And, tread carefully, especially as you near the picturesque waterfalls, as the trail tends to get slippery in those areas.
The two-mile roundtrip hike will lead you over footbridges, up and down stairs, and along wooden decks.
Of course, the trees will be awash in the colors of fall, especially if you visit at just the right time. The fall foliage in Pennsylvania is expected to peak around October 15, 2018.
However, the week of October 8, 2018, will be near peak. So, you should still be able to enjoy the vibrant landscape.
Leonard Harrison State Park is located at 4797 PA-660, Wellsboro, PA 16901.
