We can all probably agree that Pennsylvania's landscape - from the rolling farmland to the lush forests - is simply breathtaking in any season. Add a vibrant pop of color from the blossoming wildflowers, and the warmer months become even more special. You won't have to really hunt too hard to find the colorful wildflowers when you follow the Trexler Border Trail in Pennsylvania.
You'll have plenty of time to stop and smell the wildflowers that line the 9.1-mile Trexler Border Trail, which meanders through Trexler Nature Preserve in Schnecksville.
Hikers recommend allowing at least 4.5 hours to complete the entire trail. However, you might want to add a bit of a cushion to stop for breaks or just to admire the scenery.
Boasting benches and footbridges, the scenic trail earns a moderate rating from All Trails, due in part to some rocky terrain and climbs.
The trail can get quite busy, all year round, with hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders.
Colorful wildflowers flank the path, and you'll even pass fields of flowers. Take a breather on one of the benches, and admire the scenery.
You definitely don't want to forget your camera on this hike; the views are spectacular, and you'll come to several scenic vistas.
Chances are pretty good that you'll cross paths with local wildlife on this dog-friendly trail. (Just remember to clean up after your pup.)
Hiking Trexler Border Trail in spring and summer means beautiful wildflowers; fall reveals a brilliantly painted landscape while snow transforms the path into a winter wonderland.
If you're hiking during the winter, be prepared for icy conditions. Hikers recommend bringing poles and wearing spikes.
