Pennsylvania may not sit along the ocean, but we sure do have our fair share of gorgeous rivers, lakes, and ponds - all ready to be explored. One of the best ways to admire the sheer beauty of our rivers is to go on a relaxing stroll, hike, or bike ride. Discover some of the prettiest scenery in the state and drink in gorgeous views of the water, for example, along the Susquehanna River Walk and Timber Trail in Pennsylvania.
The Susquehanna River Walk and Timber Trail in Williamsport stretches 11 miles along one of the longest rivers in the Eastern United States.
Experience the natural beauty of the river and the surrounding scenery on the river walk and trail that's popular with walkers, hikers, and bikers.
Because the trail is predominately flat and paved, it's wheelchair accessible. It's also popular with parents of little ones in strollers.
Even if 11 miles sounds a bit much, you can do just a portion of it or take advantage of the benches along the way to take a breather. (There's also a popular three-mile loop you can follow.)
You'll pass some downright gorgeous scenery along the way and come across...
Educational markers. Stop to learn a bit of history and even to take a breather.
No matter when you journey along the trail, you'll be treated to sensational views. You might even catch a breathtaking sunset.
However, be prepared to go it alone if you're traveling the trail during the winter. The trail is not maintained and can get snowy, icy, and downright treacherous.
In the warmer months, the trail can get a bit buggy. Lather on the bug spray, and bring some along, too. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and a camera, too, especially if it's your first time along the trail.
