Do you ever visit a natural spot in Pennsylvania and just marvel at its jaw-dropping beauty? You might even feel as though you've stepped onto another planet. Rider Park in Pennsylvania is one of those places that promises an abundance of natural beauty and low-key ways to experience the breathtaking landscape.
Rider Park, in Trout Run, sprawls across 867 lush acres, beckoning visitors to come and explore its beautiful landscape, including three scenic vistas.
Wear comfortable shoes, especially if you plan to embark on one of the more than 10 miles of hiking trails. Hiking is an ideal way to admire the other-worldly beauty of the park.
Each trail is marked by a color, so you'll just have to follow the color to stay on the path. If you prefer a short but sweet hike, set off on the Francis X. Kennedy Trail.
The green trail spans just a mile but promises plenty of gorgeous scenery, including several scenic vistas. If you're up for a longer hike, however, follow Cheryl's Trail, which is marked by blue.
Cheryl's Trail stretches just over 3.5 miles and will take you through the forest, where you might see local wildlife, and back.
However, you don't have to go on a hike to soak up the park's natural beauty. Spread out a blanket for a leisurely picnic or bring binoculars for a bit of bird watching.
Wildlife watching is also a popular activity. After a fresh snowfall, you can go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.
If you're up for more vigorous activities, jog on one of the trails or go mountain biking.
Explore Rider Park, open daily from dawn to dusk.
