A horn blaring in the distance. The hypnotic clickety-clack of the train hitting the tracks. And, the rolling scenery as it passes by. There's just something about trains that stokes the adventurer, or maybe even the romantic, in so many of us, isn't there? Get swept up in the beauty of the railway when you visit this garden railroad in Pennsylvania, on display for a limited time.
Reclaim some of that childhood magic as you watch a miniature garden railroad chugs along the tracks at Longwood Gardens, arguably one of Pennsylvania's most popular attractions.
But, the garden railway will only be on display, weather-permitting, until January 6, 2019.
Head to the Terrace Restaurant where, just outside, the garden railroad display runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Sunday through Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
And, admire the train as it chugs around 400 feet of railroad track.
In fact, the intricately designed miniature garden railroad features some of Longwood Garden's most popular structures.
Built by the staff at Longwood Gardens, the miniature garden railway's buildings boast such natural materials as magnolia leaves, which serve as roof tiles.
Then, after you've visited the miniature railroad, explore the rest of the gardens - both indoors and outdoors.
Longwood Gardens is located at 1001 Longwood Rd., Kennett Square, PA 19348.
