Summer and adventure just go hand-in-hand. With the beautiful weather and sunny skies, we have no shortage of adventures - from riding our favorite roller coasters to spending a day among nature. When you're in the mood to spend a leisurely day outdoors, you can't go wrong with a visit to one (or more) of these six easy-access Pennsylvania waterfalls.
1. Pigeon Run Falls – Allegheny National Forest
An easy and scenic two-mile hike along Pigeon Run Falls Trail will lead you to the beautiful cascade. Although it only stands about 10 feet tall, the waterfall gently tumbles over a series of rocks, making it absolutely breathtaking. The predominately flat trail is pretty remote, so don't expect to see too many other hikers on the path, which can get muddy. 2. Sand Run Falls – Tioga State Forest
Sand Run Falls is fairly easy to access if you're up for a fairly lengthy stroll through Tioga State Forest. The 6.7-mile Sand Run Falls Trail meanders through the woods, leading to Sand Run Falls. 3. Cucumber Falls
A day at Ohiopyle State Park promises plenty of excitement. It's home to a gorgeous natural waterslide, perfect for cooling off in the summer. First, however, look for the sign that directs you to Cucumber Falls. Marvel at the 30-foot waterfoot from above - just steps from the parking lot - then stroll down a sets of stairs to see it from its base. 4. Devil’s Falls – Pittston
Slip on a pair of comfy shoes (ones that you don't mind getting muddy) for your journey along the 2.6-mile trail that leads to Devil's Falls. 5. Nay Aug Falls - Scranton
Follow the two-mile Davis Trail that leads to some spectacular scenery, including a treehouse that boasts sensational views. You'll also be treated to gorgeous views of the 20-foot Nay Aug Falls. 6. Dingmans Falls - Dingmans Ferry
Dingmans Falls is easily accessible by a predominately handicap-accessible and stroller-accessible trail. The last .01-mile of the trail requires climbing stairs if you want to see the waterfall from another angle. The majority, however, follows along a boardwalk that leads to Dingmans Falls.
