Spend an afternoon alongside some of nature's most beautiful animals. Tigers. Parrots. Kangaroos. And, that's just the beginning. Critter Country Animal Farm, an animal park near Pittsburgh, promises visitors an up-close look at some of the world's most exotic animals and popular domestic animals. Ready? Off we go!
Snuggled in Smithton in the Laurel Highlands, Critter Country Animal Farm is just 30 miles from downtown Pittsburgh.
The walk through zoo, designed to be a fun and an educational experience, houses up to 300 domestic and exotic animals from around the world.
Snap photos of the tigers, lemurs, zebras, toucans, and reindeer.
But, don't just watch. Get involved, too, feeding some of the eager animals.
And, if you've got kids (or are a big kid yourself!), get your face painted as a way to commemorate your visit to the sprawling animal farm.
Buy a bag of mining sand. Then, go gem mining, a fun activity for the whole family.
Of course, what's a visit to an animal park without a stop at the gift shop? Say hello to Willie (pictured below) as you browse the unique souvenirs and gifts.
The quaint animal farm also hosts birthday parties, offering kids of all ages an unforgettable celebration among the animals.
Critter Country Animal Farm will reopen for the season in late April and will run through early October. Visit daily, weather-permitting, between noon and 6 p.m.
Tickets cost $9 for adults and $8 for seniors and children.
