Buhl Farm Park, about an hour from Pittsburgh, lays claim to a pretty impressive fact. It houses "The only free golf course in the United States."

You never know who you might run into at this 262 acre park developed by Frank Buhl and his wife, Julia, at the beginning of the 20th century.

Buhl Farm Park hosts numerous events throughout the year, including concerts and bird walks. Upcoming events include Fall Fest on October 14, Oldies & Funk Dance on November 17, and Breakfast with Santa on December 9.

Programs are also available at various times throughout the year. During the summer, for example, first through sixth graders can sign up for a summer youth program.

The park transforms into a winter wonderland when the snow falls with visitors lacing up their ice skates for a glide around Lake Julia. A stroll around the park's fitness trails also provides picture perfect moments.

Sit under the canopy of the gazebo, anytime of the year, to watch the sun sink behind the Western Pennsylvania landscape.
