Spring is finally here! We're done counting down. Now we get to start enjoying all the beauty that spring brings with it, including long, leisurely walks that allow us to breathe in the fresh air. You'll find few better ways to spend a lovely spring day than at this wildflower preserve in Pennsylvania that's bursting with blossoming wildflowers as you stroll through a picturesque meadow, through a shaded forest, and by a shimmering pond.
Stop and smell the wildflowers at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, a 134-acre botanical garden in New Hope that welcomes visitors all year around.
Of course, blossoming flowers and spring go hand in hand, making the breathtaking nature preserve the perfect spot to spend a few hours or an entire spring day.
Join a guided wildflower walk to learn more about the botanical garden's many flower species. Guided tours are offered every day from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in April, May, and June.
Or, if you prefer to explore on your own, set out on the self-guided tour. Just pick up a map of the wildflower preserve at the Visitor Center before you go.
Meander along the trails that will lead you to such special habitats as Penn's Woods, Heritage Meadow, Old Pond, and Green Labyrinth.
Keep an eye out for the native wildlife - turtles sunning themselves and butterflies resting on flowers, for example.
Cross the historic Stone Arch Bridge to journey over the creek. Check out several other historic features, too, including the 1933 log cabin and The Captain James Moore Pavilion.
Stroll among the wildflowers at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April through June and from Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from July through March.
Bowman's Hill Wildflower Reserve is located at 1635 River Rd., New Hope, PA 18938.
