Looking for an easy, gorgeous trail in Portland this spring? Try the Waterfront Park Trail, a 2.6-mile loop that brims with cherry blossoms. This walk, whether you stroll for a few blocks or the entire circuit, is fabulous year-round but it really comes alive in spring. When I went on a recent Tuesday, the spectacular cherry blossom trees were all in bloom and pale pink petals danced in the air. Runners and walkers took to the path along the sidewalk and underneath the trees couples and families took their time to enjoy the awesome beauty all around them. It was a truly magical experience!
The Waterfront Park Trail, which is also called the Downtown Waterfront Loop Walk, runs along the Willamette River on both sides between the Steel Bridge and Hawthorne Bridge.
This easy, mostly flat walking, biking, rollerblading trail can be accessed from anywhere along the path.
We walked along the grassy path underneath the canopy of petals. Then, we looped back along the paved riverfront path.
We lucked out on a gorgeous, sunny day but this trail is enjoyable even on gray days.
In spring, parts of this trail are carpeted in petals.
No matter which way you look, you'll see gorgeous flowers along the downtown stretch of this path.
Strolling under these trees is pure happiness.
We also enjoyed looking out over the river at the nearby bridges and ships.
This would be a great spot to bring a picnic lunch.
What fun to have this awesome floral display right downtown for all to enjoy!
