Fresh seafood is a favorite here in Oregon, and along the coast you can dine on oysters, clam, crabs, and fish that were hauled in just hours before dinnertime. Schooner Restaurant in Tillamook offers up delicious seafood and other entrees prepared with ingredients sourced locally.
The next time you have a craving for fresh, delicious seafood, head to Tillamook to visit Schooner Restaurant & Lounge. You'll find it right on the boat launch at Netarts Bay.
Address: 2065 Netarts Basin Boat Road, Tillamook, OR 97141
The dining room is cozy, and the service here is always excellent.
When the weather is warm, you'll want to ask for a table on the deck so you can enjoy views of Netarts Bay. There's plenty of seating out there, so everyone can enjoy the fresh air.
Not only is the food here delicious, but it's all sourced locally. The restaurant supports local fishermen, farmers, and businesses. Check out the board in the dining room to see where tonight's dinner came from.
It would be hard to dine at Schooners without ordering oysters on the half shell as an appetizer. These beauties are pulled right out of Netarts Bay, so they're super fresh.
The steamed clams with chorizo is another great appetizer choice. The chorizo lends just a little spicy bite to the tender clams.
On the lunch and dinner menus, the specialty of the house is the oysters and chips. The Netarts oysters are fried and offered up with roasted red pepper aioli and French fries.
The fish and chips is made with local cod and beer battered for a crunchy exterior.
If you're not in the mood for seafood, you'll find all kinds of other scrumptious dishes to choose from. Get a burger with beef from Nehalem River Ranch, or give the Dungeness crab mac 'n cheese (with Tillamook cheese, of course), a try.
The Schooner Restaurant & Lounge is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 'til 9 p.m.
Check out the full menu on Schooner Restaurant and lounge's website, and follow the restaurant's Facebook page to see what's new there.
While you're in Tillamook, you should definitely visit Cape Mears to see this 300-year-old tree and some great ocean views.
