If you love being outdoors, Oregon is the place to be. Our lush, green forests, stunning mountains, and beautiful coastline are all scenic settings, but you don't have to travel far from home to find natural spaces that are perfect for relaxation and contemplation. Here's a park right in one of Oregon's cities that will make you feel like you walked into a fairy tale.
Right in the heart of the city of Ashland, you'll find a 100-acre park that's a natural wonderland.
Address: Ashland, OR, 97520
This oasis in the city is a beautiful spot that's the place to go when you're looking for a quiet spot to relax and bask in the beauty of nature.
Ashland Creek meanders through the park, providing a burbling soundtrack for your visit.
Lithia Park began as a small, 8-acre park in 1892, and has grown and expanded throughout the years. It's long been a popular spot for Ashland residents to enjoy nature, and in 2014 was named in the top the Great American Spaces by the American Planning Association.
The park boasts two duck ponds and a Japanese garden where you can read a book, wander, or observe nature.
There's plenty of other wildlife here in addition to the ducks in the ponds. Keep an eye out for deer - it's fairly common to see them here.
Bird watchers love this park, too!
Take the Lithia Park Trail to see all kinds of plants and animals. The trail is one mile long, and suitable for most hikers.
The Butler-Perozzi Fountain was donated to the park in 1915. Sculpted by Antonio Frilli of Florence, Italy, the fountain is the centerpiece of the park.
Lithia Park has plenty of natural spaces, but it also offers recreational amenities too. Enjoy tennis courts, volleyball courts, a band shell, and playgrounds.
Whether you want to wander through a pretty garden, explore or a hiking trail, play a game of tennis, or just sit quietly on a bench, Lithia Park is like a fairy tale come true.
