One of my favorite parts of fall is going to a pumpkin patch with my kids. We love tromping around a farm to pick out just the right pumpkins to take home. Carving our pumpkins is a treasured yearly tradition! We are lucky in Oregon to have access to many great pumpkin patches to visit. Sometimes, this abundance can make it hard to choose the right one for a day trip.
While you really can't go wrong, one of the largest and best pumpkin patches in Oregon is The Pumpkin Patch, located on Sauvie Island, just outside Portland, Oregon's city center. What I love about this farm, in addition to the stunning bounty of bright orange pumpkins, is the great range of other fun fall activities that are also available. Many of which are free of charge.
You'll find farm animals, a produce market, corn maze, food stand, cafe, hay rides, gift shop, flowers, squash in a rainbow of colors, and so much more! So, head to The Pumpkin Patch for the perfect pre-Halloween day trip.
This pumpkin patch offers a cornucopia of fall harvest entertainment.
There's so much to do at The Pumpkin Patch that you can easily spend hours enjoying the farm, making this an ideal day trip.
Free hay rides are a huge draw of The Pumpkin Patch.
Hay rides run daily to take guests out to the pumpkin patch and back — or you can enjoy a stroll across the field.
The Pumpkin Patch also offers an expansive corn maze, for a fee.
The corn maze is open daily, with longer hours on Friday and Saturday nights.
The adorable brick-red animal barn houses all of your favorite baby and adult farm animals.
Don't forget to bring along your shopping bags, as you'll find lots of enticing produce and decorative veggies for purchase.
In addition to the produce market, there's a cute gift shop to peruse with fun odds and ends and other farm-fresh items.
Little ones will love the cow train. Note that this activity requires a ticket to ride.
Pack a lunch if you like, but The Pumpkin Patch also has you covered with a range of yummy food options.
You'll find gourmet burgers, pulled pork, caramel apples, apple cider donuts, corn on the cob, and more.
