Oregon is really uniquely situated in that it's been the site of some pretty spectacular geological finds. This means there are some really out-of-this-world cave creations that have formed just under the surface. We uncovered some really cool ones that we think you need to check out next time you're feeling particularly adventurous.
9) Crack in the Ground
Technically a volcanic fissure, this gigantic crack spans more than two miles and stretches 70 feet deep in Lake County Oregon.
8) Lava River Cave at Newberry National Forest
At this site near Bend, you'll get the chance to explore a mile-long lava tube.
7) Manzanita Oregon Cave
Manzanita Beach is one of those hidden treasures in Oregon where one can experience the coast without a whole lot of foot traffic. So why not get lost in a cave while you're there?
6) Sea Lion Caves
These ocean-side caverns are home to tons and tons of sea lions and make for a great roadside attraction after a day on the coast.
5) Skylight Cave
Near Sisters, this lava tube can be found at Deschutes National Forest.
4) Unnamed Coastal Cave
There a plenty of these types of caverns tucked away amongst the waves of Oregon beaches.
3) Upper Rogue River at Union Creek Trail
Take a hike on this trail and be mesmerized by the riverside views, including this understated cave.
2) Lava Tube Lost Lake
Not a cave, per say, but it's still one of those volcanic Oregon wonders that we think belongs in the cave family. This lava tube at Lost Lake is said to be responsible for draining the lake of its water source.
1) Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve
Way underneath the depths of the Siskiyou Mountains, these caves formed when rainwater dissolved the surrounding marble and fashioned a cavernous marble underground system.
Soda Straw Column Caves
Rain water formed these soda straws....
Joaquin Miller's Chapel Oregon Cave
It also formed a surface not seen in most other places.
