Bohemia City was built in the 1860s and once produced gold and silver, to the tune of about $1 million. You'll see large mounds of tailings from the mines...
...and the area is riddled with mine shafts. Most have been blocked off in one way or another, and you'll want to steer clear of them. Some are quite deep, and can be very dangerous. While you explore the area, watch for mine shafts - both intact and collapsed.
You'll find bits of equipment, some rail line, and a building that looks like a small water tower.
These fascinating remnants of history tell a story of the Bohemia Gold and Silver Mining District.
The post office was established in 1893, and still stands today. Explore it carefully - it's been abandoned since the 1920s.
The view from the front porch is pretty impressive.
You'll also see an old horse barn here. Check it out, but use caution because not all of the supports are in great shape at this point. With further inspection, you'll see the foundations of other buildings long gone.
After you're done exploring the ghost town, head up the trail to the summit of Bohemia Mountain, where you'll enjoy stunning views of the valley below.
