Of all the beautiful places to visit this holiday season, Lake Wister State Park is one that should be on your list. Every year this lovely state park transforms into a winter wonderland filled with lights and holiday displays and it's a sight to see. Check it out:
Lake Wister State Park is located in southeast Oklahoma at 25567 US-270 in the small town of Wister. It's a gateway city to the Ouachita Mountains and is gorgeous year-round.
During the holiday season, the park puts on a spectacular lights display - Lights on the Island - from Nov 16, 2018 to Dec 25, 2018.
It's a drive-thru experience that's free of charge and open to the public from 6 - 9 p.m. In fact, there's volunteers standing outside handing out candy canes to visitors.
The island is filled with over 300 light displays, each with its own theme and character.
Many of which are animated and so entertaining.
From huge dinosaurs to tumbling bears to Santa and Mrs. Claus, the kids love them all.
The centerpiece of the light show is Lady Liberty standing 32-feet high.
Every year this show gets bigger and brighter and is a favorite attraction for several states. If you're in the Wister area, we highly recommend visiting this colorful state park.
