These days we've been spending quite a bit of time outside. Whether it's in our own backyard, enjoying the sights and sounds of home or getting in the car with the windows down (it totally counts!) for a scenic drive, there's so much nature to appreciate here in Oklahoma. But, when we're looking for a way to relieve some stress we love taking hikes. This one is easy to follow and offers some of the most peaceful views in the state.
Beavers Bend State Park, located in Broken Bow, offers plenty to do if you're looking to spend the day outside.
In addition to a learning center, there are 14 trails meandering through the area that all lead to different features. But each one is surrounded by the beauty you'd expect to find here in Oklahoma.
One of the best trails is Tree Trail and it also happens to be one of the simplest to access. At 1.6-miles it's just perfect for little legs.
The route begins at the nature center where it follows a dirt path.
Along the way, you'll come in and out of the trees. If you choose to do this hike on a sunny day you'll love the moment of both sun and shade as you hike.
And there are fun features like this short covered bridge that make it great for keeping the attention of kids.
It also helps that the path follows the river allowing kids to splash around when the weather is warm enough.

Always be careful on the rocky areas which could be slippery, but mostly things here are safe and simple.
Keep an eye out for the educational cards along the way which help to give some extra information about the landscape you'll be seeing.
An out-and-back trail means when you come to the end you'll simply turn around and head back the same way you came. But we love that this trail comes to such a green river. After a rain you're likely to find it looking a bit more like a lagoon.
Once you've enjoyed this trail, consider taking some of the others. They're not all as easy as Tree Trail but they're all just as pretty and offer the same immersion into Oklahoma's outdoors!
Beavers Bend State Park is lovely and you can learn more about it by checking out alltrails.com. This is also a great way to find other hikes in the park. You can also visit the official Oklahoma Tourism website to learn more.
