For some people, hiking is an easy sell - the very mention of ANY hike gets them excited. And then you have others (like me) that need some motivation....possibly a gorgeous view, a waterfall or an intriguing place to inspire them to lace up those hiking boots. Whether you're ready to go or need that extra push to get out the door, we found a hike that just might be the most beautiful hike in all of the Sooner State. Take a look at this spectacular place:
The Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge is located near Lawton and is home to almost 60,000 acres. Believe me when I tell you...it is absolutely breathtaking!
There are 15 miles of designated trails within the refuge area, ranging from easy to advanced.
The Dog Run Hollow Trail System and Elk Mountain Trail System have multiple trail heads starting at Lost Lake, French Lake, Dog Run Hollow, Boulder, French Lake and many more places.
Take your pick of trail lengths from these hikes below, or combine them for longer hikes.
From prairies to sunflowers to rugged landscape, the scenery is one-of-a-kind.
Even Fido will be in awe of the views.
Your hike can be as easy or hard as you like.
You can climb to the top of mountains.
Straddle sides of boulders.
Or stroll along easy terrain.
Either way, you'll encounter incredible wildlife.
But don't take our word for it. Grab your hiking boots, camera and water and visit one of the most spectacular places in Oklahoma.
Does that not look like the most beautiful hike in Oklahoma? I'm ready to go!
