Oklahoma is home to many beautiful state parks, one of which is Lake Murray State Park, the oldest and largest state park in the state. This outdoor gem is home to over 12,000 acres and is worthy of a multi-day adventure to explore everything it has to offer. From hiking and boating to fishing and golfing, this park is filled with activities for all ages. Check it out below, then plan a trip and experience it all first-hand!
Lake Murray State Park is home to 12,500 beautiful acres, all centered around Lake Murray. There's so much to see and do here that you're definitely going to want to stay several days.
For starters, the park is home to a Nature Center and Tucker Tower on the south end of the lake. Here, you'll learn everything about the lake and park, so it's a great place to start.
You'll also want to experience the gorgeous hiking trails around the lake. There are seven to choose from, one of which is Buckhorn Hiking Trail, a 3.4-mile trail rated as easy.
One day isn't enough to experience everything Lake Murray has to offer so plan on staying a night or two in the park. They offer tiny cabins, regular cabins, a lovely state Lodge, and they have camping options.
But one of our favorite places to stay is on one of the floating cabins right on the water. Overnight rentals are offered by Lake Murray Floating Cabins and you won't forget an overnight stay here.
If you want to spend time out on the water, rent a boat or jet skis and cruise around the lake.
Or, head to Lake Murray Water Sports and enjoy some mini golf or splash around on their water playground.
The state park is also home to a nice golf course that is open to the public. No matter what activity you're looking to experience, Lake Murray has it all!
If the floating cabins caught your attention, check out our previous article where we featured several of them!
