1. Krohn Conservatory
The closest waterfall to downtown might be manmade, but it's still worth a visit. Located within the lovely, iconic Krohn Conservatory in Eden Park, this waterfall is hidden in a rainforest setting with an alluring cave tucked behind it. It's a great escape only minutes from downtown.
2. Ludlow Falls
A little over an hour drive to the small town of Ludlow Falls will bring you to a surprising 15 feet tall falls. Located near the town's post office, under a bridge, it's easy to access and a relaxing stop if you're in the area.
3. Charleston Falls
Not far from Ludlow Falls is the picturesque Charleston Falls Preserve, home of a 37 ft. waterfall. The area is great for hiking and a picnic and the viewing area is perfect for relaxing.
4. Fallsville Falls
About an hour northeast of Cincinnati is a hidden gem: Fallsville Wildlife Area. The listed address will take you to the parking area and then you simply follow a gravel dirt road down into the woods and along a path until you hear the crashing water. The waterfall is a gorgeous feature in a naturally rustic area of Ohio.
5. Greenville Falls
The furthest trek from Cincinnati, north of Dayton in Greenville, is the Greenville Falls State Scenic River Area. Here, you'll find unique cascading falls with plenty of great viewing spots. It's a beautiful area that is worth a day trip to explore.
6. Clifton Gorge
The Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve offers many opportunities to see a variety of waterfalls, splashing into the gorge. Especially after a big rainfall, the trails are full of activity and a wonderful escape into nature, fairly close to Cincinnati.
7. Sharon Woods
If you want to stay close to home, but still want the opportunity to chase a waterfall, head to Sharon Woods. There are actually three cascading falls along the park's Gorge Trail and as you walk along the path viewing these natural wonders, you'll forget how close you are to the bustle of Cincinnati.
