Cincinnati is known as a river town, but it's also well known that the Ohio River does not offer any beaches in the Tristate area. We are a landlocked city, which means no nearby coastline, but that doesn't mean you can't sink your toes in the sand this summer and without a long drive. There are a few scenic lakes near our city that offer a stretch of sand and gentle waters that are perfect for a hot, sunny day. East Fork State Park in Clermont County has what is likely the oldest public beach near Cincinnati, and you'll want to visit for a day of timeless fun.
East Fork State Park is just east of Cincinnati in Clermont County and offers 4,870 acres of outdoor adventure. The land actually contains evidence of human life that dates back 3,000 years ago, so it's safe to say this is one of the oldest parks to visit in our area.
There are many features within the park, which is one of the largest state parks in Ohio. Its sandy beach offers 1,200 feet of shoreline and plenty of timeless fun on the lake.
This swimming beach is open during daylight hours of the summer months and there is a great amount of space to spread out and relax. Bring a towel, sunscreen, pack a lunch, and enjoy a day in the sand and water.
Even when the beach is crowded, it doesn't feel overwhelming. Adjacent to the swimming area, you'll find changing booths, showers, restrooms, and a vending area.
The view from the beach is lovely and will easily allow you to forget that you're so close to Cincinnati. The lake stretches out before you, with rolling hills of forest just beyond it.
There are other ways to enjoy the park during a visit, including getting out on the water on a boat. You can even put a kayak or paddleboard in right from the beach.
There are also miles of hiking trails within the park if you're feeling more adventurous. They vary in difficulty and there is something for everyone.
When you decide to visit, be sure to block off an entire day. You won't want to leave until the sun begins to set on this timeless and best beach near Cincinnati.
