Ohio was meant to be explored. That's why for the first time ever, Only In Your State is partnering with Discover My Cleveland to bring a northeast Ohio waterfall tour to life this spring. Join us on June 2 for an all-day journey to seven of northeast Ohio's best waterfalls. This guided adventure will include a rare opportunity to experience Ohio's most magnificent water wonders like never before. Tickets for this one-of-a-kind bus tour are $94 and include dinner, snacks, and all-day bus transportation. Click here to purchase tickets.
The guided bus tour begins promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 from Mavis Winkle's Irish Pub in Twinsburg, which is located at 8870 Darrow Rd. #F107, Twinsburg, OH 44087. After a full day of waterfall exploration, we'll finish with a delicious dinner at Mavis Winkle's Irish Pub. Read on to see what this fun-filled day will entail!
Please note: Although there will be no strenuous or lengthy hikes to the waterfalls, moderate walking is involved, so be sure to wear some comfortable shoes. You may also want to bring some bottled water, sunscreen, a camera, and (of course) a sense of adventure!
Stop 1. Bridal Veil Falls
After departing from Mavis Winkles, you'll head to Bedford Reservation to find your first waterfall. With a height of 20 ft. and a crest of 10 ft., it's one of the most serene waterfalls in Ohio. From the trailhead parking lot, you'll walk no more than 1/4 of a mile out-and-back to view these falls.
Stop 2. Great Falls of Tinkers Creek
Located in Viaduct Park, this 20-ft. tall waterfall is one of the widest in the state, with a crest of almost 80 ft. You'll want to get several photos of these falls, as there are multiple vantage points and picturesque views.
Stop 3. Chagrin Falls
For a grab-your-own-lunch, you'll stop at the beautiful town of Chagrin Falls. This Cuyahoga County village is the epitome of charm. The town's name is derived from the waterfalls of the Chagrin River. Chagrin Falls (pictured) flows in the heart of the town, which was established in 1845. (After you've grabbed lunch at a local restaurant, consider making a quick stop at the Popcorn Shop!)
Stop 4. Mill Creek Falls
Also known as Cataract Falls of Mill Creek, these 40-ft. falls are actually located within the city limits of Cleveland. The falls were formed when a section of Mill Creek was diverted by a railroad company in the 1900s and water began to flow over the cliff face. Today, there are two viewing decks for these falls.
Stop 5. Chippewa Creek Falls
At the entrance of Brecksville Reservation, you'll stumble upon these picturesque 10-ft. falls. A deck overlooks the falls and several other waterfalls are sprinkled throughout the Chippewa Creek Gorge.
Stop 6. Blue Hen Falls
Ohio's only national park is home to one of the most photographed waterfalls in the state. Blue Hen Falls is hidden in the woods on the western slope of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It's a short .25-mile walk from the The Blue Hen Falls Trailhead and parking lot.
Stop 7. Brandywine Falls
The last waterfall stop on your journey is arguably the best. Cuyahoga Valley National Park is also home to a breathtaking 65-foot waterfall that flows from Brandywine Creek. Berea Sandstone caps the waterfall, protecting softer layers of Bedford and Cleveland shales below, which were formed nearly 350-400 million years ago. These easily accessible falls are a true Ohio treasure.
Stop 8. Mavis Winkle's Irish Pub
You'll end your tour right back where you started with an exceptional dinner at Mavis Winkle's Irish Pub in Twinsburg. The Irish charm, delicious cuisine, and history will make you feel right at home. (Remember, dinner is included with the price of your ticket!)
