Fall is finally here, and the Greater Cleveland area is festively decorated with mums, pumpkins, and gourds galore. Mother Nature has done a bit of decorating, too, splashing the landscape with rich, warm shades that add a surprisingly crisp odor to the air. As autumn descends on Northeast Ohio, our local parks are taking on an incredible new personality. Grab your hiking boots, because you will want to explore this one remarkable park that has become a fall foliage wonderland.
Welcome to David Fortier River Park, located at 24900 Water Street in Olmsted Falls.
This beautiful park is nestled against the West Branch of the Rocky River and Plum Creek. Right now, its trails are bursting in vibrant shades of gold and rust, casting a pleasant gold hue over the Northeast Ohio wilderness.
Nearly five acres of combined natural and man-made beauty long to entertain the eye.
Hike scenic trails, enjoy a relaxing picnic, or sip warm cider and watch the waterfalls cascade across the landscape.
Northeast Ohio offers incredible views of a diversity of foliage, and you'll definitely want to head outdoors to experience the vibrant array of leaves.
The peak time to experience vibrant colors is predicted to arrive sooner than usual this year. Expect this park to be alive with bursts of rich color around October 1. By October 8, the leaves are expected to begin falling.
The majestic falls are captivating all year round...
The river creates a great deal of movement, captivating visitors with stunning rapids and cascading waterfalls that stun in every season. The land was once a sandstone quarry, and as the thick forest growth begins to fall dormant, scars of its past become visible.
...But there is just something magical about waterfalls surrounded by fall scenery.
The park was named to honor an Olmsted Falls mayor whose life was cut tragically short in a car accident. One of his primary goals during his life was to improve the parks in Olmsted Falls. Can you imagine a more enchanting monument to his legacy?
This park offers incredible fishing opportunities, too.
Visitors have reported catching smallmouth bass, steelhead trout, and carp in these active waters.
And, if we experience an early snow fall this year, no worries: you'll still be in for a visual treat.
If anything, the snow enhances the spectacular beauty of this local wonder.
This spectacular park will surely surround you in autumnal splendor.
Whether you are looking for a romantic spot for a lazy stroll or a quiet slice of seclusion, David Fortier River Park is a dreamy destination you have to experience.
