Have you ever found yourself wondering "what are some waterfalls near me in Ohio?" If so, you're not alone! Most people have no idea just how many beautiful waterfalls are hiding in Ohio. From little-known cascades to popular state park falls, there’s likely a waterfall just minutes away from where you live! One of our state’s most beautiful metro parks in northeast Ohio features a loop trail that takes you to two incredible waterfalls. Within Cascade Park close to downtown Elyria, impressive waterfalls flow from both the East Branch and West Branch of the Black River. The trail connecting them makes for a picture perfect day hike that's not too strenuous -- but adventurous.
The 1.2-mile loop trail is a must-do when you visit this gorgeous metro park. With several paved areas, it's fairly easy for hikers of all skill levels to tackle.
You'll find this beautiful park at 170 Cascade Drive Elyria, OH, 44035.
Cascade Park covers a total of 135 acres. It's a peaceful little escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The West Falls features three flows beneath a picturesque bridge. While rainfall certainly impacts their flow, they're pretty powerful year-round. (But if you can visit following a big, healthy rainfall, you'll be blown away by the force of these falls!)
At the entrance of Cascade Park, these impressive falls flow. You'll find them off of N. West River Street. You can also reach the West Falls falls via the trail from East Falls.
Along the trail, you'll take in several scenic views of the Black River. Near the ford at the northern end of the park, you'll find a path that crosses the river.
The river cuts through Berea Sandstone, creating beautiful gorges. There are even some pretty falls near the ford, but these are much smaller than the East and West Falls.
You'll find the East Falls off of Lake Avenue behind the police station.
You can view the East Falls from the observation deck above or hike down the trail to the gorge for a closer look.
