At Shale Hollow Park, you can hike the dog-friendly trails, check out the nature exhibits, frolic in the natural play area, and wade in the creek. You could see unique rocks, a waterfall, a deer, or even an owl – just north of Columbus.
Shale Hollow Park is sure to please every member of your family. There are always new exhibits at the Shale Hollow Lodge - for all ages.
In the winter, hot chocolate and cookies may be waiting for you.

Bring your leashed dog on the Great Horned Owl Trail or the northern loop of the Overlook Trail.

Have a snack at the log table, cross a small rope bridge, and play games here. The self-guided wildflower trail runs through the natural play area.

Attend one of the events offered at the park, such as the fall hike and yoga series.
Other guided hikes are available, as well as programs on salamanders, and mammals – with skulls, pelts, live animals, and a chili dinner by the fire.
Catch The Bug Man when he is a guest speaker at Shale Hollow – he will introduce you to a variety of insects.
Children ages 6 to 10, accompanied by an adult, can participate in the Junior Adventurer program. Or come for the wreath-making class.
Get swept away by one of the park sunsets.
Join a naturalist for a guided sunset walk, or discover one on your own.
