Hiking through Cincinnati's variety of parks and nearby wooded regions is a great way to spend a day. Time in nature is good for everyone and you can literally do it all within a small radius from the Queen City. While you can find many worthy hiking trails within the city limits, you can also access some of the best hiking in the region with just a short drive. Less than an hour from Cincinnati is Caesar Creek State Park and it's here that you'll find the trail that leads to Horseshoe Falls. This short and easy hike near Cincinnati includes a swinging bridge and plenty of beautiful scenery that will lead right to this lovely hidden waterfall.
Caesar Creek State Park is located less than an hour from Cincinnati and is home to acre upon acre of natural beauty. If you enjoy wooded trails, scenic views, and reconnecting with nature, this is the place for you.
The park and surrounding area offer several trails of varying levels, but one that should not be missed is the trail to Horseshoe Falls. This relatively easy 1.8-mile hike takes you through a variety of landscape and is perfect for adventurers of all ages.
One of the favorite features of this trail is the swinging bridge. It may not be hundreds of feet off the ground, but it provides just the right amount of thrill and intrigue.
The bridge helps you cross the creek as you continue along on the trail. Especially if you're hiking with little ones, you will want to take your time and really enjoy this playful feature.
The other main highlight of the trail is Horseshoe Falls, hidden along the path. It's a lovely little waterfall that gives you that peaceful crashing sound and the water is shallow enough for careful wading and cooling off.
If you pack a picnic or any drinks or snacks to enjoy at this scenic spot, be sure to take everything you bring back with you and do not leave garbage on the trail. It's important that we all enjoy these beautiful places near Cincinnati and that we work together to keep them that way.
The trail takes you out, you loop around, and then head back to the trailhead. It's an easy enough hike near Cincinnati to tackle in an hour or two, or slow down and really enjoy the bridge, waterfall, and natural wonder of this region of our state.
