Mineral Springs creates North Dakota's one and only natural waterfall. Luckily, a trail has been made going past the springs and the waterfall, resulting in a delightful walk to see a true hidden gem that you literally can't find anywhere else in the entire state.
We have directions to the trailhead from Fort Ransom. You can change the starting point to wherever you are.
The hike traverses through forests, along the riverbed of the Sheyenne River, around the Mineral Springs, and up to the waterfall. It is about a 4.4-mile, round-trip walk.
The view of the springs and the river that can be seen along the trail is well worth the trip alone. Be ready to take a lot of pictures here because tons of animals call the Sheyenne River Forest home and there are plenty of awesome photo ops. Waiting for you at the end of the trail is the natural waterfall, which was created by the deep underground spring.
The softly trickling water and the surrounding forest create an amazingly serene and peaceful atmosphere. This hidden spot is perfect to clear your mind and appreciate how special the humble little waterfall is. There's only one in the whole Peace Garden State, and this is it.
