It's no secret that Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park is one of North Dakota's favorites.
Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park is located along the Missouri River by Mandan, ND. It features trails, campgrounds, cabins, and even the state's only working trolley.
The park is full of historic buildings and recreations that draw in hundreds every year to explore.
This park is just overflowing with history that you can see through an infantry post, cavalry square (shown above), and the fascinating On-A-Slant village. But where is the best place to get a view of all this?
If you want to get the very best view in the park to see all of this and more, you'll want to take the Little Solider Loop Trail.
The Little Soldier Loop Trail is a short trail at only 1.76 miles long. It starts at one of the park's picnic shelters and will take you up a quick route to some truly spectacular vistas.
The view is second to none, with sweeping views of the On-A-Slant village, Missouri and Heart rivers, and land as far as the eye can see.
You can even see Mandan's neighbor city across the river, Bismarck, from the views on the Little Soldier Loop Trail.
