The Mineral Springs Trail is a semi-popular hike near Fort Ransom, North Dakota, that features a natural spring that's often referred to as North Dakota's only waterfall.
The hike is 4.3 miles in length and leads adventurers through tunnels of trees, lush, forested paths, lovely little wildflowers, and so much more. It's open year-round, so you can come at any time, but our favorite time to visit is during the warmer months, when everything is green.
The woods surrounding the Mineral Springs Trail are breathtakingly vibrant and full of life. Watch birds dart in and out of the trees and observe all kinds of critters along the way.
Even if you're the only person (or people) on the trail, you won't necessarily feel alone.
Other frequent animal friends often made along this trail include small frogs, deer, raccoons, and lots of other adorable, fuzzy (or slimy... or scaly... or feathered) friends. Keep your eyes peeled; you never know what you'll come upon!
The spring itself is small and subtle, but it's quite pretty nonetheless.
It's a great little reward for doing the entire hike. Despite some somewhat muddy parts and the occasional potential for fallen trees in the trail path, the hike is relatively simple and highly enjoyable.
