It's nearly some kind of crime that this state is the least-visited one in the country; it's breathtakingly beautiful, and unfortunately, it tends to be overlooked by folks planning a vacation. Lots of things, but for starters, there are more than 400 lakes all over the state, making it perfect for a warm-weather adventure. Nestled within a gorgeous, rolling prairie is Beaver Lake State Park, a little slice of paradise right here in our backyard!
From hiking and camping to bird watching and biking, there is much to do while you're here. For now, we're going to take a moment to admire one specific thing about this state park in North Dakota: the lake itself.
Beaver Lake is a 964-acre lake in Logan County known for its clear waters, vibrant wildlife, and excellent fishing.
Interestingly, it's not terribly deep; at its deepest points, it's only about seven feet deep! The depth averages five feet, so please, no diving - enjoy this shallow, crystalline lake as safely as possible.
So, what kind of stuff can you do in a lake that's only seven feet deep?
As it turns out, lots of things, like fishing for largemouth bass, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, floating and pondering life, and more. It's up to you, and the possibilities are only limited by... well, the shallow depths, we suppose.
But, not to worry: this heavenly escape in North Dakota is 100 percent worth the journey it may take to get there.
As for Beaver Lake State Park, it's located alongside the western shore of Beaver Lake, surrounded by stunning forests and rolling prairies that are just about synonymous with North Dakota itself.
This getaway truly is pure North Dakotan amazingness, and for the ultimate experience, we recommend camping for at least one night!
The sunsets and sunrises over Beaver Lake are to die for, and few things are quite as relaxing as spending an entire day kayaking on the lake before resting under the stars beside a crackling campfire.
