1. Embark on a SUP adventure
Getting active on the water is a way of life at Wrightsville Beach, and what better way to explore the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway than by standup paddleboarding? Rent a paddleboard from one of the island’s outfitters like Cape Fear Paddleboarding and set off on a SUP adventure – it’s the perfect option even if you’ve never tried it before. It’s also a great way to take part in one of the fastest growing sports while still soaking in all the views.
2. Cruise the Coast
There’s something about gliding across the glassy water with a salty breeze blowing through your hair. Whether you’re trying to reel in a catch, experience sunset views or take a trip to a barrier island, boating has always been a favorite pastime at Wrightsville Beach. Visitors can schedule their own boating journey with Wrightsville Beach Scenic Tours, which offers a variety of experiences including harbor sunset cruises or day trips to Masonboro Island to collect shells or spot wildlife.
3. Hang Ten
Take to the water by board and experience why Wrightsville Beach was named as one of the best surf towns in the world by National Geographic. Sign up for a surf lesson with WB Surf Camp and learn how to ride the waves with certified professional instructors. Wrightsville Beach, will also soon receive some major acknowledgment in the world of surfing: the island will be recognized as the birthplace of surfing in North Carolina and as the "Pioneer in East Coast Surfing" during a historic highway marker unveiling on Oct. 18.
4. Dock and Dine

5. Explore the Nightlife
When the sun goes down, the nightlife at Wrightsville Beach heats up. If you’re looking for live entertainment and a fun night out on the weekends, there’s no need to step off the island. Located next to Johnnie Mercer’s Pier, The Palm Room features a lineup of entertainment from local and regional bands throughout the year. Through the end of September, listen to live music on the Crystal Pier at The Oceanic, and groove on the patio at Bluewater Waterfront Grill overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway well into October.
6. Cast a Line
Why not partake in one of most popular activities on the island while seaside – world-class fishing? The waters surrounding Wrightsville Beach are home to some of the best offshore and inshore fishing in North Carolina. 9. Attend a Signature Event
If you’re a foodie, head over to the 4th Annual Taste of Wrightsville Beach where Wrightsville Beach chefs are preparing to face off on Oct. 10. The event will feature more than 30 tasting booths serving samples of everything from fresh seafood and frozen yogurt, to North Carolina craft brews and seasonal wines. 10. Set Sail
