One such place to experience sunflower fields forever is along the Neuse River Trail in Raleigh. Not only will you be able to find fields of golden brilliance, but you'll also have a few picture-perfect moments to cherish forever. During June and July, the trail is brimming with sunflower fields. The sunflowers are planted to help the nitrogen-rich soil from washing into streams, rivers and watersheds.
The sunflowers can be viewed along Mile Marker 23 on the trail. Visitors can also park at Auburn-Knightdale lot located at 2901 Auburn-Knightdale Road for a two-mile walk to the sunflowers. If you're seeking a shorter journey there's also parking at Mial Plantation access point located at 6008 Mial Plantation Rd for a 1.5 mile walk.
From novice to experienced photographers, surprised greenway walkers, and sunflower searchers, the sunflower field attracts a wealth of visitors to the greenway. The prime time to view the sunflowers is between June and July, but please note: Oftentimes the sunflowers can be late to bloom, so it's important to check with the field in advance to see when the best time to visit is.

If you're looking for extra exploration, the 33-mile long, paved greenway offers a multitude of various sceneries that span along the river banks from Falls Lake Dam to the town of Clayton. The greenway also constitutes a portion of the Mountain-to-Sea Trail. The greenway includes wetland views, historical sights, agriculture fields and interpretive signs.
