Whether planning a day trip to get away and break out of your normal routine, or something longer such as a weekend or more, a visit to Morrow Mountain State Park will deliver everything you need for an epic break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Centrally located and part of the Uwharrie National Forest, this underappreciated state park offers so many amenities and fun things to do, that you will need more than just a day to enjoy it all!
An overlook and picnic shelters at the top of Morrow Mountain provide a place to settle in for a day of family fun.
After breakfast and before lunch, take a hike. The trails range from a half mile to a little more than four miles and deliver scenic views regardless of which one you take.
One of them leads to Falls Dam on the Yadkin River.
Over at Lake Tillery, you can rent kayaks and canoes...
And enjoy an up close and personal experience of exploring the lake using your own manpower.
Or just enjoy the expansive water views from the many trails, including the Three Rivers Nature Trail. It's a mere 0.8 mile long, but the views are out of the world.
This state park also has a seasonal swimming pool for hours of endless enjoyment for the entire family (open daily June through Labor Day).
And if you want to spend more than a day, a campground provides an ideal spot to park your gear while you explore the park. Prefer cabins? There are six rustic cabins here with all the charm you'll need for a perfect getaway!
