In 1945, a young couple named Jess L. Lowe and his wife Lucille Bryan purchased a small amount of farmland. As the years went by, the couple raised four children on the farm and also made their living as tobacco farmers. When it came time to "put in" their crop, neighbors would help, and Lucille would make barn day dinners for all the farmhands. This usually consisted of fried chicken, butter beans, collards, biscuits, potatoes, ham, and sweet tea. As the years went by and all the children left, everyone ventured out into the world and stopped working on the farm.
In the 1980s, a man named Mike and his wife Theresa began working on the farm. This time it wasn't tobacco, but Christmas trees. Over the years, they both left their day jobs to pursue the farm full time. A bakery was added, then a shop, an animal petting area, and eventually a restaurant. Today, you can enjoy all of the history, and a classic barn day supper at Mike's Farm in Beulaville.
Today, Mike's Farm is beautifully quaint. It's the perfect place to stop on a fall day or any time of the year.
The farm is always decorated seasonally. In the fall there's pumpkin picking, hayrides, and a variety of other crops to take home.
You can also stop by the country store for seasonal products you won't find anywhere else. The gift shop has a wide array of presents for any occasion. It's also fun to browse and shop through local finds including jams, jellies, and canned goodness.
Aside from the wide array of things to do, you also can't beat the meal! The focus of this piece is the restaurant, right? Here, you can enjoy a barn yard supper just like Lucille used to make.
This is classic southern cooking at its finest, between crispy fried chicken, green beans, soft biscuits, pork loin, and mac and cheese. To enjoy the family style supper, it's $15.59 for adults, $14.49 for seniors, $8.49 for children age 7-11 and $5.49 for ages 3-6. Mike's Farm can also be rented for private events. The barnyard is perfect for the rustic bride.
The deck is ideal for parties, weddings, get togethers, and puts you right in the middle of nature in a peaceful farm setting.
