Think back to a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth, bugs grew as big as labradors and it was a constant battle between gentle giants and less-than-gentle carnivores. From a T-Rex stampeding through the trees to Pterodactyls swooshing above your head, for most we've only been able to imagine such a world through movies like Jurassic Park or visiting a museum, until now. Carowinds' "Dinosaurs Alive" exhibit lets children and grown-ups alike walk with the giants.
Dinosaurs Alive lets visitors see 50 different dinosaurs and even control a few. From a terrifying Tyrannosaurus Rex to the towering Ruyangosaurus, the animatronic dinos move and act as if they're alive. Even their "lifelike" skin plays into the idea these beasts might not exactly be extinct.
Dinosaurs Alive was described by Coaster101
as Carowind's "Most Underrated Attraction." For only $5, visitors roam the 5-acre plot (or half-mile trail) and children can play paleontologist at the dig site. While many museums offer fossils and information, children can really interact and learn at Dinosaurs Alive. Some dinosaurs even come equipped with a motion control panel. Carowind's described their exhibit as, "Dinosaurs Alive! features over 50 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, which are scientifically accurate based on the latest paleontological knowledge. The exhibit presents scenes and stories based on real fossil evidence. "
Have a child or know an adult who absolutely loves dinosaurs? Taking them to this exhibit will be the highlight of their year. Centered in a lush environment, children might possibly believe they've stepped into the land before time, full of thrashing, moving, roaring dinosaurs. Adults will love the photo opportunities and the childlike whimsy provided. Coaster101 also mentioned the unique opportunity it provides for mesmerizing photography, The dinosaurs at Dinosaurs Alive are great to look at, but that's not all the attraction has to offer. Take it from someone who loves taking pictures of roller coasters: the best part of the area to me was some of the unique angles it presented to photograph Intimidator, Afterburn, and Woodstock Express.
For only $5, it's easy to see why this is a hidden gem amongst Carowind's other popular exhibits. Visit Dinosaurs Alive while you still have the chance!
