North Carolina's Yadkin Valley has more than 35 wineries/vineyards, making it a popular stop for wine enthusiasts from all over. The Yadkin Valley Wine Festival is held each year on the third Saturday in May, and is perfect for sampling the best wines from the area vineyards. But, no trip to Elkin should be without a stop at perhaps the most unique winery in the South. No matter what you're accustomed to pairing with your wine, we guarantee you've never tried this delightful combination!
A visit to Devine Llama Vineyards in Elkin gives you a chance to drink wine and pet llamas!
Begun in 2006, this winery near Elkin is a fun and enchanting way to enjoy the fruits of the season — and be wowed by the resident llamas. Fifty llamas, to be exact.
The 77-acre property reserves 22 acres for the llamas to graze, but they're more often found cohorting with the guests.
Devine Llamas Vineyards has a tasting room that's ideal for sitting outside in the shade and enjoying a bright sunny day while enjoying their 11 different wines.
In the spring and fall seasons, they host their ever-popular Llama Treks. Saddle up your llama with all the fixings of a picnic and then head off to explore the 77-acre estate, stopping for a nice little lunch (with wine, of course!) in a shady spot under a canopy of trees. Their llama treks JUST started up again for the season, but the reservations fill up fast (hint, hint).
Where else can you sip wine and pet llamas?! Join the friendly staff, and outgoing llamas at Devine Llama Vineyards for an over-the-top experience in North Carolina.
Devine Llama Vineyards is open Friday and Saturday from 12-5, and Sunday from 1-5. Llama treks may require reservations. Find out more by visiting their Facebook page, or check out their official website.
Devine Llama Vineyards is located at 4126 Divine Llama Ln., East Bend, NC 27018.
While you're in the Elkin area, we suggest you continue the adventure with a stop at this scrumdiddlyumptious restaurant!
