When it comes to packing up the beach chairs and towels and getting some salt, sun and surf, it can be hard to decide which beach to choose from. North Carolina has so many beautiful ones with a little something different to offer depending on your location. Of course, we're all searching for white fluffy sand and crystal water and while no two beaches in North Carolina are alike, one is so remote yet accessible and also so untouched and so unique it easily belongs on this list.
This beautiful 11-mile stretch of beach is located in the Currituck region of the Outer Banks. Accessed by 4WD, this remote stretch of sand and surf restricts high-rise development and remains fairly untouched for being part of the popular Outer Banks location.
The 'road to Carova' is in fact, the beach. While you might think - how is fluffy white sand related to cars driving on the beach? The fact that this utopia remains somewhat hard to access is what keeps the wildlife, sand, and scenery pristine.

Don't worry, that's not a shark! Just dolphins playing in the water. Another added bonus to Carova is the amazing turquoise water.
