You may be wondering how the Farmers' Almanac comes up with these annual predictions. The actual formula is kept secret, but it's a mathematical formula related to astronomical conditions, tides, planetary positions, and sun spots.
The secret formula is used by a single employee who works out the numbers according to a set of rules developed by the Almanac's first publisher way back in 1818. The process is so closely guarded that the one employee who maintains the information and produces the annual forecasts doesn't even use his real name. He goes by the pseudonym Caleb Weatherbee.

Over the years, North Carolina winters have brought us some frosty conditions, especially in the mountains. This year, we can expect snow in the later part of the season, so, let’s bundle up and embrace the cold!
