A trip to this enchanting butterfly farm in North Carolina will prove there's no age limit on fun. Both the young and the young at heart will enjoy this excursion to see, hold and learn all about Monarch butterflies at this real working butterfly farm. They raise Monarch butterflies - and then set them free to join the massive Monarch butterfly migration to Mexico each fall.
Located in High Point, All-A-Flutter farm will take you on an enchanted journey into the life cycle of Monarch butterflies.
Not only do they raise the butterflies, but they also set them free each fall so they can join the millions (billions?) of Monarchs that migrate each fall to Mexico.
From the beginning, which starts with the egg, the four stages of the life of a butterfly are remarkable — and you'll get to see them all on this fascinating day trip.
After the egg, comes the next stage: the cute and crawly little caterpillar.
Then comes the pupa, surrounded by the hardened layer called the chrysalis.
During the season at All-A-Flutter, you'll have the opportunity to see each and every stage of the miraculous life cycle of the Monarch butterfly.
The last and final stage, and taking place after the caterpillar stage, is the adult butterfly!
Each year, All-A-Flutter has a ceremonious occasion to send their Monarchs on their way. From High Point, the butterflies will make a long journey during their migration to Mexico for their winter hibernation.
All-A-Flutter is a seasonal butterfly farm that is open from April through October (exact dates vary by year).
During the week, they're only open for tours of 20 people or more. But on each Saturday during their season, they host a Family Show at 10:00 a.m. You'll have the opportunity to learn all about the Monarch Butterfly, and even get some hands-on experience in handling (and feeding!) them. What fun!
The Family Show at All-A-Flutter is open to the first 150 people who show up each Saturday. The cost $7.00 per person (children under two are free).
No reservations are required for the Saturday Family Show. Just show up at least 30 minutes early to park and pay before the show starts. The show usually lasts 60-90 minutes and you're not supposed to wear any bug spray, because butterflies are bugs. No one is allowed on the grounds prior to 9:00 a.m. Shows may be cancelled due to inclement weather. For more information see their official website. In 2018, the farm's season opens on April 11.
All A Flutter is located at 7850 Clinard Farms Rd b, High Point, NC 27265.
